“Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self expression and, above all, attitude.” – Iris Apfel

Fashion doesn’t have to be complicated.

I like to keep things simple. Modern Midlife style means no rules. It also means breaking the rules. Making your own rules. Personal style is when your personality – the best part of fashion – meets style. Your personality is what makes style, STYLE!

I know you’ve heard me say this before, but something as simple as a great belt is all you need to make an outfit. I’ve been collecting belts for decades. I have some of the same belts from my 20’s. They look as good today as they did back then. Of course, the way I style them is vastly different.

I discovered Contorno Belts years ago. They’re a favorite of mine as well as my dear friend, Jacqueline DePaul. They’ve found their way around many waists of the Forever Fierce Sister. They meet all my requirements. They are made of high quality leather with the most beautiful details. They’re made to last. They’re interchangeable so you can create limitless looks. And, they’re class with a twist! You can choose a simple leather belt or one with grommets and studs. You can also add a classic buckle or a more ornate one.

For this post, I decided to focus on the gorgeous shade of brown found in these Contorno Styles. The designers added some new straps and buckles over the past year which I adore. Of course, there are gold and silver styles, plain straps or more distinctive straps with metal details. I love to mix and match and play around with the styles. They’re made to go on your waist or to be worn on your hips. They come in sizes from Extra Small to Large. I’m wearing an XS in all of the images. Once in awhile, I do add an extra hole at the leather shop if I want to wear the belt on my waist.

I found this fabulous knit top and bandeau at Zara. It’s comfy cozy. It’s perfect by itself in warmer temperatures and great layered or with a blazer as we head into chillier fall and winter days. I’ve also worn it with jumpsuits. This gorgeous corduroy jumpsuit is by Free People. This one is sold out but they do have a fabulous solid color corduroy this year in multiple shades. It fits like a dream. Again, I’m wearing an XS that does tend to run small so I recommend sizing up.

The final look I showed earlier this year. The fabulous sweater is from Lana Lindgren and curated in her Belong Lifestyle USA shop. Fortunately, she still has some available as it’s a great top or layering piece as we head into winter. A belt truly makes an outfit. It can pull together just about anything. I love wearing a belt with a really simple tee and favorite pair of denim too. You can’t go wrong with a fabulous Contorno Belt added to your wardrobe. Be sure to check out the entire collection right here. And, please know that I do receive a commission from each sale.

Cheers Beauties, which look and belt is your favorite? What’s on your shopping list for fall fashion?
