“Beauty is simply reality seen with the eyes of love.” – Evelyn Underhill

Originally posted in December of 2018, this is my personal thank you to the first company to sponsor FierceCon. I use Saranghae products every day and it has been a wonderful relationship! To celebrate the upcoming first anniversary of FierceCon in LA on October 25-27, 2019, Saranghae is providing the coupon code “GRACE” for an additional 10% OFF your purchase!

You know that saying about having a “good hair day?” I think most women understand the psychological effect of a good hair day. But what about the psychological impact of a “good skin day” or what I call a Saranghae day! Skin is our body’s largest organ. Skin is usually the first thing we notice. Youthful, glowing skin is something most women covet. Loving the skin we’re in is vital to our self-esteem and self-confidence. Would it be amazing to embrace who we are, learn to love ourselves and practice the art of self-care?

Why is it that Self-Care seems so unnatural?! As women, we’ve been raised to take care of everyone and everything … except ourselves. Our children, our homes, our husbands, our employees, our students, our friends, etc. tend to come first. We are born nurturers yet nurturing ourselves can feel foreign, at least until we begin changing our patterns and incorporating a healthy Self-Care ritual.

As I’ve gotten older, I’d like to think I’ve become a bit wiser. They say youth is wasted on the young and I believe there’s some truth to that. It was on me! I spent most of my younger days beating myself up. I was so damn hard on myself. Flaws were easy to see. Beauty… not so much. Thank God for my “Midlife Awakening,” my inner Phoenix rising up from the depths of my being telling me to “Snap out of it!” There’s something beautiful about the “middleness” of life, that juncture where we’ve lived more years than we have remaining, that yearning from deep within to live more authentically and to learn to love the heck out of yourself.

Self-Love and Self-Care were nonexistent in my life prior to my Midlife Phoenix showing up. Now, they’ve become an integral part of daily living. One of the best ways to care for myself has been adopting routines and rituals that make me feel beautiful. One of those rituals happens to be taking care of the skin I’m in. Our skin is like a public barometer for how well we take of ourselves. When my skin looks amazing, healthy and glowing, I feel better about myself and far more confident. Entering the world of blogging in my mid 50’s gave me the kick in the butt I needed to begin taking self-care seriously and skin care to a whole new level.

I began investigating the latest in “Pro-Aging” skincare regimens and kept seeing the latest innovations were using the science found centuries earlier in Korea. Korea is known as the epicenter of the world when it comes to youthful skin. I’ve always been a lover of natural ingredients, especially when it comes to our skin. Given that our skin is a living, breathing organism literally absorbing the ingredients found in products, I wanted a system that was effective yet also incorporated the highest quality plants and nutrients found in nature. I landed on a company called “Saranghae” which means “I love you” in Korean. What better way to learn to love the skin you’re in than with a company founded on Love! I reached out to the team at Saranghae and began developing a relationship with them. One year ago, I began using their 5 step system which included a cleanser, serum, eye cream, rejuvenating moisturizer, and mask. As I mentioned in a prior post, I tended to be a bit “helter-skelter” when it came to skin care. I loved having a system to follow and one that simply made sense.

The first step in the Saranghae system begins with their deep cleansing oil that cleans without stripping the skin of its natural oils. The next step is to lay a foundation and heal the inner skin with a deep essence serum that’s my absolute favorite product. I’ve been investigating serums over the years as they help to lock in moisture and the Saranghae serum is the best one I’ve ever used. I notice an instant radiance in my skin every time I use it. Following the serum, I add a layer of their Rejuvenate and Regenerate Cream – a Cellular Regeneration Cream designed to firm and lift and what Midlife woman doesn’t need some firming and lifting! It’s actually been known to increase collagen up to 200 percent. I’ve definitely noticed the changes in my skin due to menopause. My combination skin has become dry skin over the past couple of years. At least it was before Saranghae.  I don’t go a day without slathering my skin with as much regeneration cream as possible and the results are skin that’s visibly glowing and full of moisture. No skin care regimen is complete without a luxurious eye cream. Our eyes are the window of the soul and they are also the area where our skin is the thinnest and tends to show aging more quickly. The Focus Renewal Eye Cream injects the skin with fatty acids resulting in a lifted appearance and significant reduction of wrinkles the longer it’s used. The piece de resistance is the Elemental Essence Mask which makes me look like Hannibal Lecter until I remove it. It’s a sheet mask that’s soaked in the highest quality ingredients including Hylauronic acid and CoQ10 and leaves your skin instantly glowing and radiant. It’s my secret weapon when I need to look and feel my best. One of the latest products added to the Saranghae regimen is their pore refining charcoal mask. I’ve been using charcoal for decades, both internally and externally, as it’s one of the best natural detoxifiers around. The beauty of the Saranghae mask is that it’s loaded with charcoal that instantly removes blackheads and tightens pores but without the typical drying effects of most charcoal products. One of my Self-Care regimens involves slathering my hair with a deep moisturizer along with the charcoal clay mask. It’s like a mini spa experience with immediate age-defying results!

After a year of steadily using the Saranghae system, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skin. This same year, I went crashing into full-blown menopause which usually translates into skin aging more rapidly. My skin has never looked better and it’s also had an impact on my self-esteem. Having a solid self-care routine by adopting a regular skin care ritual has had an enormous impact on me. Self-Care is Self Love and Self Love is the key to a happy and healthy Midlife…and beyond. I’m grateful to that Phoenix that rose up and smacked me around in the most loving way…and I’m grateful to have discovered Saranghae, my secret to younger looking skin. I can be proud of my age. I can also shout it to the rooftops while not having to look my age.

Try it out for yourself as there’s nothing to lose (except for some lines and wrinkles!) and everything gain as Saranghae offers a 30-day money back guarantee. 30 days to a younger looking you…30 days of Self Love and Self Nurturing…30 days devoted to you! Cheers Beauties…and make sure to let me know your experience. Better yet, take some before and after pictures for me to share!

This is a great post! Your skin really looks amazing. You are so right about “self care” being something unnatural. I wrote about that very topic not too long ago. I will have to try out this set. I love a good skin regimen! May I also say that that dressing gown is absolutely stunning!
Thanks for sharing!

It’s so important, isn’t it sister? Self care is a new concept for me. I’m working on a lifetime of neglect in that department. I can’t wait to read your post on self love.

So glad you are! I’ve fiddled with so many different products that I’m relieved to have a system to follow that truly works. The fact that the ingredients are all natural and the highest quality is an added bonus! Let me know if you decide to try!

Great information Catherine! I really do notice a difference in your skin. I have some many half-used bottles of lotions and potions in my cupboard, some of which I love and continue to use, some which provided lackluster performance. I’ve vascillated about adding more to “the collection” but when I see your results I’m inclined to go for it!

It’s amazing, isn’t it?? Maybe it’s the fact that it’s not full of horrible chemicals? But the people at the company itself are reason to love the products too!!

I know you do. It’s so important to understand what we are putting into our bodies especially as our hormones tend to go awry later in life. It doesn’t hurt that the company is oozing buckets of love!
