“May your dreams be larger than mountains and may you have the courage to scale their summits.” – Harley King
What does it mean to be Fierce?
It means running toward fear instead of away from it.
It means baring your soul when you want to hide it.
It means standing your ground when you want to run for cover.
It means climbing that mountain and never giving up.
A few years ago, I was ready to give up.
Today, I’m giving it my all…climbing mountains I never thought possible…
What changed? I changed! If I can do it, so can you!
The only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time.
The only way to affect change in your life is one step a time, one belief at a time, one thought at a time, one action at a time.
There was a time in my life, not long ago, when all I could see was the impossible.
When I saw a mountain, an obstacle, a challenge, I saw what I couldn’t do.
A mountain is simply a metaphor. The metaphor of life.
Life is climbing the mountain, or many mountains, one baby step at a time. It’s stumbling, falling, and picking yourself back up.
It’s being faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges ultimately overcome, many times by sheer force of will alone.
Lyme Disease was a mountain, an obstacle, a life-threatening one, one most didn’t believe I could overcome, including myself.
Until I did.
What I found is that the most challenging mountains in life are the ones we face inside of ourselves.
I’ve faced many mountains in this game called life. Today, I see those mountains in a whole new way. I see mountains as an opportunity, not an obstacle.
Midlife has a way of changing a woman, shifting her perspective, reframing her life, her challenges, her difficulties, her struggles in a positive, new light.
A light filled with wisdom, buckets of life experience and a heart bursting with empathy and compassion, first for herself, and then, rippling out toward others.
Midlife is an awakening.
Midlife is a beginning.
Midlife is Fierce.
Midlife is Moxie.
Moxie is not giving up.
Midlife is climbing that mountain whether you’re in high heels, cowboy boots, bare feet ’cause there ain’t no mountain high enough when you’re filled with Fierce determination.
Midlife is a fresh perspective, one we can only see looking back from the top of the mountain.
