You will almost always find me in some form of activewear but sometimes there’s nothing like a flowing maxi dress and heels to make me feel Fierce! What does it mean to be FIERCE?

The word has a traditional connotation of aggressiveness, and that’s just the opposite of the mission of The Forever Fierce Revolution. It also means having a passion, and Being Fierce…or Forever Fierce…means being you- the real you, and not the you others believe you to be. Being Fierce means kind, fiercely kind – beginning with yourself.

What does being Fierce have to do with fashion? Fashion has a way of changing the way I feel in an instant. It’s a powerful form of creative expression allowing a woman to show the world who she is – it’s her ultimate calling card. The beauty of fashion, much like the beauty of a woman, is made up of a beautiful range, a kaleidoscope and endless array of choices. Fashion is deeply personal and isn’t meant to be conformist.

A few weeks ago, I was asked to Co-host my first Ageless Style Link Up with my friend and Fierce Sister, Jonet Wooten of Fabulously Chic Over 50 and many of my other Forever Fierce besties, including Jodie Filogomo of Jodie’s Touch of Style.  Entering the world of fashion blogging in my mid 50’s, I was a little late to the party! It was all about the Maxi dress and as a child of the 60’s, growing up in the 70’s, I’ve been a lover of pretty much anything Maxi. I invite you to read the post here.  I found myself instantly combing the internet for the perfect Maxi look. When it comes to shopping – I have a hard time stopping at just one! The Ageless Style Maxi I chose was flowy with ruffles and a flirty and feminine vibe which expresses the sweet Southern Belle side of my personality. I decided to show the sexier and sassier side with this black lace number by the same designer, WAYF – or an acronym for “Where Are You From?” The designs are stunning with a beautiful selection but it’s the affordable price point that will keep you coming back. I think a more appropriate acronym would be “Way Affordable Youthful Fashion!” The price may shock you as it did me. This Maxi recently went on sale at Nordstrom for under $60!

Both chic and romantic with intricate lace detailing, this beauty can easily transition from day to night. Tossing on a leather jacket from All Saints and platforms from Barbara Bui (both from my own collection – similar linked at top and bottom of post) gives it a more casual feel. The sunnies are one of my favs! I pulled the bag from my closet, a sale find that will last me a lifetime. For the day, any bag with a bit more casual feel would be ideal. I wouldn’t hesitate to dress it up for a cocktail party or even a black-tie affair. The addition of a pretty wrap over the shoulders, a pair of dressy, strappy sandals and an evening clutch would change the look in an instant. Throw on some rhinestone jewelry and you’re good to go!  This designer has won me over with a beautiful range of fashion for any age or budget. Finding a dress that incorporates current trends yet remains a classic in your wardrobe and is easy on the pocketbook is the ultimate “win-win.” Cheers, Beauties!

Thank you so much, Manisha. You are a doll. I’m so grateful to you for your kind comments and for adding me to your weekly blog reads. I’m headed there to check it out. I do love to shout my age to the rooftops…isn’t it time we changed the way we viewed aging?
